There were few options available to women when I was this girl's age. The world today is fundamentally changed. While problems still exist, she has opportunities that were unimaginable when I was young. This image celebrates the strides that women have made in less than a lifetime. Abstract shapes and colors were added in PhotoShop to intensify the sense of her empowerment.

About William Beuther
Bill is an award-winning and published fine art photographer whose work has been juried into numerous art shows at the local, regional, and national levels, including national art shows at the Butler Institute of American Art. Interested in photography since childhood, he was able to immerse himself in it when he retired early from a local community college. Bill uses photography to explore his creativity and is always trying new approaches and techniques. He definitely sees photography as a journey rather than a destination. Fair warning - I'm going to gush. This is one of the most unique and well done pieces of art I think I've ever seen. Typically, I don't like this type of treatment in a photograph, especially one of a child, but you managed to perfect the absolute perfection of her expression.
