Description
This pastoral scene is found at the medieval Castello Di Vosdinovo in Tuscany. Legend has it that the fifteenth century maiden Bianca so enraged her parents by falling in love with (and eventually becoming impregnated by) a local stable boy, that they sealed her in a room at the castle and let her starve to death. The legend is supported by recent archeological evidence. Perhaps Bianca quenched her thirst at this very well before her unfortunate downfall and demise.
